Geoff Freeman / Instructor / Dance Director / Studio Manager
Geoff first started teaching dance as a trainee instructor in 1979 after applying for a position that advertised “no previous experience necessary”. He was immediately struck by how much fun it was and after a gruelling six week training program he was selected for employment.
Geoff later travelled to Adelaide to continue his teaching before opening his first studio in 1989 and then went on to co found Dancecorp Dance Studios in 1992 out of a desire to create a professional organisation that is truly committed to the highest standards of teaching, professionalism and student satisfaction.
Over the next fourteen years Geoff opened additional Dancecorp Dance Studios in Brisbane, Canberra and Sydney and his responsibilities as both Managing Director and National Dance Director of Dancecorp Dance Studios meant that he was constantly travelling. In spite of this Geoff continued to teach on a full time basis and to participate in the many events conducted by Dancecorp Dance Studios.
Geoff finally returned to Brisbane to live permanently in 2003 and in 2005 he took over the ownership of Dancecorp Brisbane so as to focus his efforts on his staff and students here in Brisbane. In addition to being the manager of the Brisbane studio Geoff is also a full time instructor and the Studio Dance Director.
“Teaching dance is an absolute blast, every day is different and you actually get to constantly challenge yourself, work with great people, have fun and meet lots of fantastic people who share your passion along the way. It doesn’t get any better than that!”
Wendy Harding / Instructor / Course Coordinator
Wendy started ballet at an early age adding tap and jazz to her repertoire in her final years of high school. She began working for Dancecorp Canberra as a trainee instructor in 1996 and her fun and friendly teaching style was a big hit with all of the students.
Always looking for new challenges Wendy accepted a transfer to the Dancecorp Sydney in 1997 and within a short time was appointed Studio Supervisor. Once again Wendy’s love of dance and her enthusiasm for teaching were an inspiration to her students.
Since her relocation to Brisbane Wendy has enjoyed continued success as an instructor, choreographer and performer all of which makes her one of our most experienced staff. Wendy also teaches our Booty Barre and Pilates Mat Classes after having gained her qualifications as an instructor in both Barre and Pilates.
In her role as Course Coordinator Wendy also advises newer students on the programs and services that Dancecorp Brisbane has to offer and assists them in deciding which programs and courses would suit them best.
“Instructing someone to dance is not just a meet and teach. Not only an opportunity to help someone realize their ability to dance, but to open their world to new experiences, new people and sometimes a whole new person.”
Reena Rose / Instructor
Reena started learning Jazz at a young age and was introduced to American Style Social Dancing in Melbourne. Such was her enjoyment with this style that she quickly advanced to teaching full time in Mebourne for four years before moving to Brisbane.
Since starting with Dancecorp Reena has continued to develop her knowledge of the Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Quickstep, Viennese Waltz, Rumba, Cha Cha, West Coast and East Coast Swing, Salsa, Samba, Merengue, Mambo, Bachata, and Argentine Tango through the Dancecorp Instructor Training Program.
Whilst Reena is an avid swing dancer in a variety of styles she is a natural talent and excels in all of the styles she has studied. Her greatest enjoyment though comes from a genuine love of teaching and she really enjoys watching students, with two left feet, grow in confidence and eventually take to the dance floor, with as much joy as she does.
