Specialising in social dancing for both beginner and advanced students and offering a variety of dance styles in the Ballroom & Latin Genre. About the Opportunity

As a dance teacher/instructor, you will be teaching a range of dance styles to adults, assisting clients to improve their dance skills, build their confidence and most importantly enjoy themselves!

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning dance programs and dance instruction for a diverse range of adult students;
  • Providing exceptional customer service and retaining existing students;
  • Encouraging new and existing students to continue to enhance their dance skills;
  • Promote and support studio events with participation as required;
  • Basic student and front desk administration when not teaching or training;
  • Ongoing professional development to enhance your knowledge and skills

Most importantly, Dancecorp is looking for encouraging and enthusiastic candidates with a sense of humour. You’ll bring your expert dance tuition to the dance floor as you mentor students and hone their new dance skills. Formal qualifications are not necessary as full training will be provided.

Wages, Training & Employment

This is a Permanent Position with regular scheduled hours starting at 30 hours per week during your initial six-month probationary training period and increasing to 36 hours per week thereafter.

As this is a permanent position which will require a strong commitment to training and development, particularly during your initial six-month probationary training period, it will require your full attention and therefore is not suited to applicants with current study or work commitments elsewhere.

Probationary teachers/instructors receive $34,320.00 per annum ($42,240.00 Casual) + Super based on a 30-hour weekly schedule.

Teacher/Instructor wages increase to $46,800.00 per annum ($57,600 Casual) + Super + Incentives based on a 36-hour weekly schedule after successfully completing the initial six- month probationary training period.

Incentives are productivity based and are paid upon completing the probationary training period. Incentives have the potential to increase your wages by up to $270.00 per week or $12,960.00 per annum.

Subject to previous training and experience the successful applicant will be required to complete an entry level Pre-Appointment Training Program of up to a maximum of forty hours of non-paid training prior to commencing employment.

Skills & Experience

No Previous Experience Required

Full Training is provided however you must be well presented and bring to this role a great attitude, work ethic, enthusiasm in dealing with people and a passion for dance and teaching dance to students of all ages over 18yrs.

Previous Dance Training or Teaching Experience

Whilst this may be an advantage, we are looking for people who are a good fit with our current young and enthusiastic team of dance teachers/instructors who place a high value on their professional development, outstanding customer service, good communication skills, professionalism and a willingness to work as part of a team.

Transferrable Skills

This role would also suit any person with great dance aptitude and a genuine passion for teaching dance. Experience in the fitness or hospitality industries or any role where direct face to face contact with clients was required is also desirable.

The successful candidate will be confident in their abilities and be able to assimilate their training quickly. They will be willing to learn new styles they may not be familiar with including a wide variety of dance styles in both the Ballroom and Latin Dance Genres. As this is primarily a teaching role, prior teaching experience with adults is preferred however not essential for you to succeed. Your infectious and high-energy personality and enthusiasm when meeting new people will play a key factor in your success as a teacher/instructor at Dancecorp, so don’t be afraid to let them shine through!

 

Studio Location & Operating Times

Central location (Woolloongabba) with onsite parking for staff.

Normal operating hours are Monday to Friday 1:00pm to 9:15pm and Saturday 9:15am to 5:30pm with teaching hours scheduled within these times as required.

Given that our peak teaching times are during the evenings Monday to Friday and Saturday you will start on a six-day schedule which will reduce to a five-day schedule at the end of your probationary training period. Given the hours you will be required to work it is an advantage if you have your own transport however this is not essential as our studio is centrally located with easy access via public transport.

Group Interviews will be conducted on Saturday the 19th and 26th of January from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at our studio premises.
