If you’re about to tie the knot and your wedding planning is in full swing, we’ve listed the top three things to consider when planning your wedding first dance.
Our instructors at Dancecorp Dance Studios specialise in bridal dance programs.
We want to help every couple feel comfortable and confident on the dance floor in front of their family and friends, so they can cherish this very special moment.
Below we share some useful advice for anyone who can’t pick a song to dance to, is finalising their outfit or wanting to start lessons.
Wedding First Dance: 3 Things to Consider
Before you waltz into our Woolloongabba studio for bridal dance classes, we recommend that you keep the following 3 things in mind.
- Your Wedding Dress and Shoes:
The style of your wedding dress will have a bearing on what dance steps you can comfortably include in your wedding dance.
For example, if your wedding dress has a large train at the back, which cannot be bundled up, it will be difficult to do twirling movements or move in a backwards direction.
Your shoes will also play a part in how easily you’ll be able to carry out some dance moves. However, some brides choose to change into a more comfortable pair for their first dance.
- The Dance Floor:
The size of the dance floor at the wedding venue will also dictate the types of dance steps that can be included, as some steps require more room to execute than others.
- Your Bridal Dance Song:
Our experience has shown that some songs are much more difficult to learn to dance to than others, so it is best to allow plenty of time to ensure that you’re both comfortable with the moves.
Another important point to consider is the length of time you will be dancing for.
We recommend you keep your first dance to between one and a half to two minutes, so it doesn’t feel repetitive.
Remember you are not professional dancers and as the saying goes ‘always leave them wanting more’.
